Emma Forrest has nearly 20 years of experience representing clients in a variety of business sectors, including but not limited to healthcare, federal contractors, product manufacturers, software developers, and construction and real estate. Her background as a litigator for top law firms and General Counsel at distinguished for-profit and non-profit corporations, such as Airbus DS and PRIDE Industries, brings a unique combination of business savvy and problem-solving skills intended to serve the best interests of her clients.
As a litigator, Emma has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of matters, such as medical and professional malpractice; employment litigation; wage and hour litigation; construction defect; commercial and residential real estate; eminent domain; patent infringement; insurance bad faith; theft of trade secrets; products and premises liability; ADA litigation; administrative and government claims; federal and commercial contract litigation; and general business litigation.
Serving as General Counsel for a significant portion of her career has allowed Emma to develop extensive skills in all legal aspects of commercial and federal contracting, including government set-aside programs, such as AbilityOne, and FAR / DFAR compliance; HIPAA, HITECH, US and EU privacy laws; government clearances; risk and compliance; ecommerce and website design; software development and licensing; intellectual property management; corporate governance; employment and discrimination law; wage law; real estate transactions; mergers and acquisitions; product manufacturing; export compliance; insurance coverage and disputes; commercial general liability; and corporate policies and procedures. This deep understanding of the law and intimate knowledge of client internal environments allows Emma to provide targeted and cost-effective legal solutions.
Emma’s current practice involves the representation of individuals, for-profit and non-profit entities in litigated matters involving business and contract disputes; commercial and residential real estate; eminent domain; construction defect; software development and licensing; products and premises liability; and employment, discrimination and wages. However, her main focus is the provision of on-call General Counsel services to help clients avoid the threat of litigation. From start-ups to established corporations, Emma can address virtually any legal need with unmatched skill and efficiency.
Emma is admitted to practice in all California State Courts; the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central District of California; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in Washington, D.C.
In her spare time, Emma serves as a mediator for the State Bar Fee Mediation Program, a volunteer attorney with the Voluntary Legal Services Program, and is a former Board of Director of Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (“BOSS”), a non-profit in Berkeley, California.
